Job description:

PTC is currently seeking a qualified Instructor for facilitating our Business, and Skills Training programs in our Durham campus.

Reporting to the Campus Manager, the Teacher is responsible for assisting in the students’ academic success, individual development and job readiness of students.

Duties:

  • Develop individualized education plans based on needs of client to facilitate their goals

  • Instruct students using a plan of lectures, demonstrations, discussion groups, laboratory work, and independent or group projects

  • Provide individualized instruction to students who Identify barriers to employment and assist clients with such matters as job readiness skills, job search strategies, writing résumés and preparing for job interviews

  • Administer and interpret tests designed to determine the abilities for student success Prepare program proposals and reports

  • Prepare, administer and mark tests and papers to evaluate students' progress

  • Set-up and supervise projects, field placements, laboratory work or hands-on training

  • Act as a liaison between community partners and student, and student and placement

  • Participate and coordinate workshops, career fares and open houses

  • Other relevant duties as required

Profile of the Ideal Candidate:

  • Passion for creating a memorable student experience and exceeding customer expectations

  • Ability to adapt course content to relate it to student’s interests and future experiences

  • Enthusiasm in preparing students for workplace entry

  • Knowledge of job readiness skills such as resumes, interviews and professional attire

  • Strong computer knowledge in Microsoft Office, Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook

  • Superior English literacy skills and report writing

Employment requirements

  • Minimum of 2-3 years of relevant teaching and work experience in ESL, Upgrading and computers

  • A relevant degree, diploma or certificate from a recognized post-secondary institution;

  • Work experience in any of the following teachable subjects: Customer Service, Office Administration, Business, Security Guard, Auto Service, Dispatcher, Human Resources, Marketing, Accounting is considered an asset

  • Temporary work visas will not be accepted. Vulnerable Sector Screening Check is mandatory.
